Thank you for your inquiries:
From working with our clients and talking with those of you who are working in the field, it is obvious that there is an interest in the Minnesota Model and how it can both define a treatment process as well as how components of it can be integrated into a variety of existing programs and settings.
With that in mind we are now developing a series of informative pieces that will address various issues and questions. We will be posting new information periodically and invite you to check back. In the mean time you can review the FAQ on this site, as well as the following article, "Caring Community" by Mike Schiks.
We invite your questions and will be expanding our site to answer more of them specifically in the future. We want to ensure that our website is a useful resource both for specific consulting services but also for knowledge and applicable use of the Minnesota Model as a treatment option

MN Model Consulting
Minnesota Model Consulting encompasses the use of a select number of professionals with long-term experience in working with addiction treatment programs. At this stage of our lives, we view this as a way to selectively offer what we know to those agencies interested in strengthening the balance between “mission and margin i.e. advancing clinical quality driven by compassion and financial viability driven by sound leadership management practices.
Our capabilities in alcohol and drug addiction treatment organizations touch all aspects of organizational management including clinical service delivery, facility operations, financial management, development and fundraising, marketing and outreach, quality, and information systems. With that said, our services are limited. Most of us are retired. We do not aspire to grow and expand for the sake of ambition or finances. We simply look to pass on that which we have learned over the years. We are selective in who we work with...alignment of values is important to us.
Michael A. Schiks, the principal partner of Minnesota Model Consulting, is the former Executive Director/CEO of Project Turnabout an addiction treatment organization based in Granite Falls, Minnesota. Mike is also the former Executive Vice President of National Recovery Services for Hazelden, an international provider of treatment and educational services based in Center City, Minnesota Mike formed Minnesota Model Consulting to work with all types of treatment providers who wish to establish or improve their clinical and/or business operations, and to integrate the “heart and soul” of the Minnesota Model and 12-step recovery into their therapeutic program.
